The Democracy Inquiry’s ”forgotten” proposal on ”People’s Motion”, which was shockingly not included in the Government’s request to the Riksdag, is described as follows;

In order to achieve the goal, the inquiry proposes that the government SHOULD take measures before and between elections aimed to increase political equality.

The Democracy Investigation suggested that a so-called people’s motion be introduced. This means that an individual can raise a proposal and if this is supported by one percent (approx. 70,000) of those entitled to vote, it must be taken up as a motion. The investigation also proposes that a national digital democracy portal be established where it should be possible to submit and support popular motions on all political issues via the internet..
This would greatly increase the opportunities for influence in the political processes for the common man.
