A democracy investigation started in 2014. It put forward a proposal about, among other things, a. ”Folkmotion” (People exercise), 2016.
The right to ”Folkmotion” was not included in the Riksdag’s (Parliament) vote on the inquiry proposal.
The government rejected the inquiry’s proposal for a stronger influence and involvement of the people in the political process between elections.
A proposal to introduce popular motions to Sweden’s Riksdag was put forward by the democracy inquiry in 2016, but the Government did not submit the proposal to the Riksdag.
Folkmotion is a bill that can be submitted by any citizen.
The motion must be supported by 1% of those entitled to vote.
